How To Install An Ford Taurus eFan On a 98'+ GMC Sonoma

You must first start taking off the fan shroud and any other objects in the way, exp. air intake. There are 4 screws on top of the shroud and 2 on each side connecting the bottom and top shroud together. One shroud is off take of the radiator hose.

After fan shroud is removed you will see the clutch fan and fan blades. (fig.2) you need to take the whole clutch fan assembly out, they do make a tool for this but I decided to take it out myself with a pipe wrench and a crow bar forced on the water pump pulley to keep it from spinning and had a friend hit the wrench with a hammer. Not the correct way to do, do at your own risk.

Install the efan onto the cooler fins, i decided to drill a new hole threw the efan and bolt it onto the wholes that are already drilled on the cooler fins(fig. 3)
Now all the wiring starts, I started my wiring the night before for the relays. (Fig. 4) You need 2 30amp relays, you can purchase here (http://airbagit.com/product_info.php?products_id=1633), and use the wiring schematic located at the bottom of this page.

Taping into the EDC for your power to the thermostat, I used a split in thing can get that at RadioShack (fig. 5) Run this wire to your thermostat. The wire that you tap into is green with a black line; do not use the green with white line.

Splitting into the ac power wire, the power wire is located on the side of the ac compressor. Prong them for power when car is on and A/C switch is on. (fig.5)

Mounting your relays, I mounted my relays on the bottom of the bottom fan shroud on the inside.

Adding the Diodes, Use a N14007 diode running from the A/C tap to the relays, cut the wire and then strip and solder it on. Make sure the silver band is going towards the relays. Do not miss this step, I tryed it without doing it and the A/C compressor kicks on/off then on shooting your RPM's up from 1g to 3gs rapidly.
Thermostat placement, I put mine on to lower fan shroud then the spike going into the cooling fins next to the top hose. Test and then finish it up me set my thermostat to 180o. Put the top fan shroud back on and bolt everything back up. Don’t forget to put the radiator hose back on, and your aftermarket cold air intake. (Fig. 7)
